Pushing the Margins

2026 Cohort

Pushing the Margins is The Foundry's first program dedicated entirely to fostering new works in the local playwriting scene. Immerse yourself in a six-month program where you will take an idea or rough draft to a staged reading or start with a more developed script that will become a workshopped production. Each cohort will comprise of three local theater groups who will work both independently on their own projects as well as collaborate to create bonds and professional networks within the cohort. The Foundry will provide mentorship throughout the program, as well as access to our multipurpose and maker spaces for rehearsals and prop or costume creation as needed. The program will culminate in a final performance in The Foundry’s black box theater. Each production will also receive a stipend to support its final performance, which can be used to compensate actors, crew, and other production needs.

Who We're Looking For

  • Start with a rough draft that will be taken to a staged reading or a more developed piece that will be taken to a workshopped production.
  • Bring as many members of your group as you'd like (playwright, dramaturge, stage manager, actors etc.) or come as a solo playwright and The Foundry can help you make connections for the final performance.
  • Be familiar with The Foundry's mission and be committed to working towards diversity and equity in our theater spaces. Be curious, open, and committed to personal growth.
